Hey and welcome to Adjusto! 👋
Adjusto is an AI-native contents platform that takes claims from item capture all the way to settlement, supporting policyholder self-inspection, field adjuster inventory, and desk adjuster valuation, all in one seamless and flexible workflow.
We’ve built Adjusto to fit into any claim flow and any claim size. To name a few:
- Small claim with a few items? Have your policyholder use our web app to submit their loss.
- Large loss get submitted as a spreadsheet? Upload it and we’ll work our valuation magic.
- CAT loss with thousands of items? We help field adjusters shine (and document losses), and then value everything in minutes.
Getting Started
Sometimes the best way to learn is by doing, so let’s work a claim together. We’ll cover a lot of what’s available in the platform, so you can figure out what features work for you and your workflow. We’ve built Adjusto to be flexible, so it should fit right into how you work claims.
We’ve prepared some sample files for you to use. You can download all the files here. We’ll also link to them throughout the tutorial.
Accessing Adjusto
You should’ve received an email invite to join your organization on Adjusto.
- Open the email
- Click the link
- Add in your name & password
And that’s it! Your account should be setup.
Problem with your invite?
Reach out to your Adjusto org admin, they can send (or resend) your invite.
Create a claim
From the Claims page on your computer, click Add Claim

Add in Claim Details
Fill out all the required fields in the Add Claim form.
In the Claim Number field, put in "Test - [Your Name]" so that we know that this isn't a live claim.
In Assigned To select yourself, since this is your claim.
While Deductible is optional, set it to a low value like $100.00.
The Policyholder Name and Address fields can be filled out however you’d like.

Finally, click Add Claim to create your new test claim.
Your New Claim
You’re now on an empty claim page in the adjuster view.
From here you’ll be able to add items, invite policyholders to collaborate, work the claim, and more.
This claim is can be seen and worked on by all the adjusters in your organization.
Basic Claim Cycle
The basic way claims work is:
- You add items to the claim (we have many ways you can do this)
- Adjusto’s AI automatically finds product matches and pricing, and applies depreciation.
- You review the item matches and valuations and make any changes you need
- Once finalized, you publish a report.
So let’s start adding items to the claim.
Add Items with a Loss Sheet
The first way we’ll add items is by uploading a loss sheet. Loss sheets can be spreadsheets (Excel, CSV) or handwritten forms (that’s right, our AI can read handwriting).
We’ll start with a spreadsheet. You can download our sample spreadsheets here.
Use the Upload Loss Sheet to Start Claim to add your file, then click Upload

This should only take a couple of seconds to process these items into Drafts.

Review Drafts
Items enter into a Draft state when they first get added into the platform.

In the Draft state, you can review items and make changes to any of the fields before they get processed and priced out. This comes in handy when uploading handwritten loss sheets or videos to a claim.
In the Draft page you can:
- Add items directly to the claim
- Delete items
- View photos & videos associated with the item
Items in Draft have two states
- 🟡 Incomplete - The item needs additional info before it can be processed
- 🟢 Ready to Process - The item is ready to be automatically valuated & depreciated
Next Step: AI Process Drafts
Once you’ve prepared your items, you can have Adjusto automatically process them.
- Select the Ready to Process items you’d like to process
- Select Actions
- Select AI Process Drafts

Note: If you’ve selected any Incomplete items, the AI Process Drafts button won’t work.
Processing
It takes a few minutes for items to process.
Once complete, they will automatically appear in the Items tab.
You will also receive an email letting you know the items have processed and are ready for review.

Review Items
Once the items have processed they’ll appear in the Items list view.

Let’s take a look at the list in depth. There are a lot of columns, so you may need scroll horizontally to see them all.
Some important columns:
- Description - the description from the loss sheet
- Submitted Unit Price - the price per unit from the loss sheet
- Matched Unit Price - The price per unit of the Matched Item (aka Settlement Item)
- Unit Price Diff % - The difference between the Submitted Unit Price and Matched Unit Price, as a percentage
- Unit Price Diff - The difference between the Submitted Unit Price and Matched Unit Price, in dollars
= Submitted Price - Matched Price
- Classification - The Depreciation Category for the item
You can drag, resize, filter, and sort most of the columns.
View & Edit Individual Item
Now let’s look at an individual item. Click on the blue item description (or double click anywhere on the row)

This view shows you everything related to this item and lets you modify any of the values.
You can:
- Fix any mistakes in the Submitted Item
- Update the Settlement Item to a different item or set it manually.
- Change the Depreciation of an item to a different classification or set it manually.
- Add in Adjuster Notes that only adjusters can see
- Attach Images
- See where this item came from in the Item Source.
Try updating a Settlement Item.
You’ll see that our AI found multiple products that it could have matched with. Our AI picks what it thinks is the best match, but you can change it to another one. Or set it manually.

Depreciation is also set by our AI, but it’s fully controllable by you.
Try changing the Classification to see how it changes the ACV of an item.
You can also change the Age of an Item to change the depreciation.

Bulk Changes
You can make changes to multiple items at the same time from the Items list view.
Select the items you want to change using the checkboxes on the left side of the row.
At the bottom of the page, a bulk item editor bar will appear. This can change most of the fields on an item.
For example we change the Room across these three items.

Flagged Items
Flagged items are items that need additional work before they’re ready to be settled.
They are easy to fix though. You can filter down to just the Flagged Items to knock them all out quickly.

To resolve a Flag open up the Item and follow the instructions in the red banner.
For instance, “Cash” doesn’t automatically match with a product (since it’s money).

We’ll need to update the Settlement Item’s
- Sales Tax rate to 0%
- Matched Item Description
- Unit Price

Hit Save on the Settlement Item, and the flag is resolved!
Where did Sales Tax come from? We automatically grab it from the Claim Address. It’s accurate down to the roof level. You can also update it in Claim Details.
Review Items Like a Pro
When reviewing claims, especially large claims, you want to look for outliers where the Submitted Unit Price doesn’t match up with the Matched Unit Price.
This doesn’t mean the match is wrong necessarily, as policyholders don’t always know the value of their items, but it should be reviewed.
To easily see outliers, sort the Unit Price Diff% column. The bigger the difference, the darker the purple. And if the Unit Price Diff column is also a dark purple, that means there’s a big dollar amount difference. So be sure to look at those items.

And sometimes the Matched Unit Price is higher than the Submitted Unit Price, so be sure to review items with large price differences.

Practice Working the Claim
Practice makes perfect, so try working the claim.
- Review the item product matches
- Make sure Depreciation looks okay
- Resolve any Flagged Items
