How can we help? 👋

Why are the item descriptions messed up from my handwritten loss sheet?

Handwritten loss sheets can be tricky

This usually happens when the handwritten loss sheet is hard for the AI to read or interpret.

Things to check first:

  • Make sure the photo or scan is clear, well-lit, and high resolution
  • Avoid blurry images, shadows, or skewed angles

If you’re using a ruled or table-style form:

  • Ensure handwriting stays inside the correct rows and columns
  • Text that bleeds into adjacent rows or columns can cause the AI to split or combine descriptions incorrectly

Handwriting doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to be neat and orderly within the table structure.

How to fix it:

  • Edit the item descriptions directly in Adjusto, or
  • Use the Bulk Item Editor (via the checkboxes) to delete the items and re-upload a cleaner sheet.
    • You may need to type of the loss sheet in Excel and upload that instead

For best results—especially on large claims—you may want to type the loss sheet into Excel and upload that instead. We know that’s extra work, so if you’re using handwritten sheets, make sure the person writing them knows they need to write cleanly.
